On the first day of the month, the national president, Paul Tanchi, with two (2) other officers together with the officers from OSHDP,CREBA and NREA met to formulate action plans to prevent the passage of the NALUPA bill and agreed to issue an industry statement to be published in major broad sheets. This was followed by another meeting with Congressman Rodolfo Valencia on February 4 after which the group worked and submitted on the same day the fifty two (52) proposed amendments to the bill which was later reduced to 47. Execom meeting was held on February 6 and immediately after, the group proceeded to the Senate to attend the session but was postponed. Several meetings were held and/or attended by the President and/or members of the board, to wit: Fire Code Technical Staff re proposal to amend IRR of the Fire Code especially on the issue of the Automatic Fire Suppression System (AFSS); TWG NHA-UAP meeting re formulation of guidelines in crafting the standards for socialized housing under BP 220 to include Green Building; DTI/BOI meeting with Usec Adrian Cristobal; Workshop with PIDS; TWG on HMDF; DILG re-socialized MRB project for informal settlers and LRA. Moreover, the different committees also met to discuss pressing issues/concerns for the preparation of position papers. The first Chapter visit was also conducted in Davao City on February 13 wherein the President, together with some members of the Board, met developers from the Southern Mindanao chapter and gave updates on various matters. The first SHDA board meeting was held on February 20 and matters ratified were the Execom approvals of increases in the annual regular and affiliate membership dues effective January 2014 and the establishment of new chapters particularly in Luzon.
