SHDA launches ‘SHDA Cares’

As part of its thrust to give back to the community, the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) announced the formalization and institutionalization of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, “SHDA Cares.”

SHDA Cares will be conducting a series of events that will address its thrusts on three main areas: addressing homelessness, providing skills training, and engaging in community outreach and calamity relief efforts.

To rally support in addressing homelessness, SHDA Cares will partner with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the country, such as Gawad Kalinga, Habitat for Humanity, and similar organizations that have been at the forefront of providing homes in the grassroots community.

SHDA Cares also collaborated with the Rotary Club of Makati Central (RCMC iCare) to conduct two community outreach programs at Camp 7 Elementary School Baguio and UPI Maguindanao last February 22 and 24, respectively, to fulfill its thrust on community outreach. The collaboration also has extended to both organizations providing financial assistance of PHP200,000 to the victims of a road mishap involving police students of Regional Training Center 10.

On March 15, SHDA Cares partnered with RCMC iCare and the Philippine National Police Training Institute to donate school supplies and slippers to indigent students in Calamba, Laguna.

“We believe that as an organization, we have a responsibility to give back to the community,” said Herbert Tan, SHDA Cares Committee Chairman. “We are committed to our CSR thrusts and will continue to work towards making a positive impact in the lives of the people we serve,” he added.

Furthermore, SHDA Cares continues its outreach last March 25, with an orphanage visit to Chosen Children Village in Silang, Cavite. Members are encouraged to join and spend time with the differently-abled residents. Any support, whether in cash or consumables, is welcome.

“We are aiming to provide skills training, job opportunities, and support for calamity relief and community outreach as part of its initiative. Beyond disaster relief efforts, SHDA Cares aims to encourage active involvement among its members in activities with social impact,” said SHDA Cares Vice Committee Chairman Joy de Joya.

Through the stewardship of SHDA Chairman Arlene C. Keh,  and President Arch  Leonardo B. Dayao Jr., SHDA Cares will also be more pro-active in partnering with various organizations and agencies in the attainment of these various thrusts.
